McLAREN AUTOMOTIVE

Fred is Programme Manager at McLaren Automotive. Fred is involved in each project from the very beginning through prototype development and on to series production managing various aspects of this process.

He has helped develop new Ultimate Series McLaren models including Senna, Senna GTR and Elva.

ENGINEERING AT UNI OF BATH

Fred was awarded a Masters Engineering Degree from the University of Bath. Whilst an undergraduate, he was central to the success of their International Formula Student project, involved in the design and build of the race car (TBR 11 & 12), as well as being lead driver for two years running.

Whilst at Bath, Fred also won the British Universities Karting Championship (BUKC).

RACING A McLAREN

Fred currently races a McLaren 570S GT4 in ADAC GT4 German Championship for Frankfurt based Dӧrr Motorsport (part of the Dӧrr Group), in partnership with Basis Technologies, racing at F1 venues in Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands.

Fred is also a Race Instructor, a drift instructor, and a Pure McLaren coach, and is involved in on-track shakedowns of new McLaren models.

EARLY DAYS - KART RACING

From an early age, 'Fast Freddie' won kart races in the UK and Europe, winning his first club championship at age 8. Starting out in Cadets, he finished 3rd and 2nd in the British Championsips in consecutive years.

Fred rose through the karting ranks, through Jnr TKM, JICA, ICA and Formula A. He had many successes racing in the British, Italian, French, German and European Karting Championships, racing for world renowned RFM Motorsport, works Italian team, Maranello, and Swiss team, Swiss Hutless.

He was also British Vice-Champion three times, has represented England, and he became the youngest ever member of the British Racing Drivers Club, aged just 15.
